On October 6, one of the most popular MCU series, “Loki,” returns for its highly anticipated second season. As the premiere date approaches, the first social media reactions have surfaced, and they promise a thrilling ride, along with a new addition that steals the spotlight from Tom Hiddleston.
“Loki” Season 2 is set to premiere on Friday, October 6, 2023, exclusively on Disney+. It comes a whopping two and a half years after the first season, which made its debut on the streaming platform back in June 2021. The series, arguably one of the most beloved within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), set high expectations with its first season. The question now is whether the new episodes can live up to the bar set by Season 1.
Just three days before the official worldwide release on Disney+, the embargo on social media press reactions to “Loki” Season 2 has lifted. For those who may not be familiar with the series yet, this is the perfect opportunity to catch up on the opening season (which consists of only six episodes, allowing you to binge-watch it before Season 2 begins).
But now, let’s take a sneak peek at the initial reactions to this new chapter. While full-length reviews will be released later today, early Twitter reactions already provide insights into what to expect.
KE HUY QUAN STEALS THE SHOW
While the initial reactions cover various aspects of the series, they largely agree on one point: Ke Huy Quan, a new addition to the cast, is repeatedly highlighted as the standout of the season. Jonathan Sim of ComingSoon says, “Ke Huy Quan is a scene-stealer in an MCU series that just works brilliantly.” He also praises the chemistry between Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Mobius (Owen Wilson) and the strong performance of Jonathan Majors, who portrays Kang.
The first 4 episodes of #Loki season 2 are off to a strong start.
More time travel fun with Loki and Mobius’s electric chemistry combined with higher stakes and Jonathan Majors’s excellent performance.

Luke Y., a critic from ComingSoon and SlashFilm, has a lot of love for Quan and already calls his character “iconic,” placing him in the same league as Short Round (from “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom”), Data (from “The Goonies”), and Waymond (from “Everything Everywhere All At Once”).
Season 2 of #Loki is much more uneven than the first, unable to match the shocking reveals and central mystery with any kind of urgency. Ke Huy Quan is great, though, and his O.B. is a new iconic character worthy to stand alongside Short Round, Data, and Waymond.

Josh Davis of Cinefield also ranks Ke Huy Quan highly, calling him a “perfect addition” in a significant role. He also praises the chemistry between Hiddleston and Wilson.
Twitter user Geekstache mentions several new additions to the cast in a positive light, with Quan being a clear standout. They also appreciate the character development of the familiar faces.
At CineGeekNews, enthusiasm for Ke Huy Quan and Majors is evident. It’s emphasized that Season 2 quickly advances the story right from the start, compared to Season 1, which started “terribly slowly.”
Zayyan Farooqi of CinemaDebate agrees, describing it as the “strongest start of a Disney+ series,” wasting no time in gripping and amusing the audience.
Gissane Sophia of MarvelousGeeks admits that the MCU multiverse is still somewhat of a “mess,” but the second season of “Loki” knows exactly where it’s headed. She also emphasizes the continued joy of watching Tom Hiddleston in the role of Thor’s mischievous half-brother, a role the actor clearly enjoys.
MARVEL BACK ON TRACK
“Marvel magic is back,” writes Rohan Patel of ComicBookMovie. He suggests that the season gets better with each episode, with Wilson and Hiddleston making a perfect team and Ke Huy Quan stealing the show.
Hunter Bolding agrees, referring to “Loki” Season 2 as a significant return to form for Marvel. After a few recent MCU setbacks, he promises a season that will satisfy fans of all kinds.
While there are only a few mixed opinions that suggest Season 2 differs from the first, whether that’s a good or bad thing will likely be a matter of personal preference.
Overall, the majority of the initial reviews are overwhelmingly positive. They convey that “Loki” is precisely what the MCU needs right now—a resurgence in the form of a crazy, entertaining adventure with grand spectacle and great characters.
Whether the early social media reactions are simply overly enthusiastic or indeed reflect what Season 2 of “Loki” delivers, you can judge for yourself starting this Friday, exclusively on Disney+.
